Orji Uzor Kalu extend his utmost condolences to those Jos 118-plus tragic victims.

*** Orji Uzor Kalu's INTERNATIONAL PRESS STATEMENT ***

It is with a heavy heart that I extend my utmost condolences to those 118-plus tragic victims, their friends and families in the central town of Jos, following the vicious attack which took place at a community bus-port and market. Truly, they are casualties in a long-waged, would-be ‘war’ unjustly brought upon them and the people of Nigeria by misguided forces of evil.
We are not only witnessing acts of violence increase in tempo from cabals such as Boko Haram within our nation; indeed, the actions of those responsible for the massacre in Jos, specifically the timed explosions set to ensure maximum loss of life, have indicated that there is a significant escalation in the training of these extremist operatives and in their tactical capability.

As Boko Haram seeks to expand its areas of operation and network beyond the borders of Nigeria, so too must we emphasize the importance of the Paris Summit held over the 17th of May weekend and indeed building our own networking capacity to counter the threat of terrorist-driven implosion.

It is imperative that the international community engages our military forces, works with us to enhance our intelligence gathering resources and proficiencies, assists in the strategic movements of our security forces, institutes cross-border patrols and partners on the installation of high-tech surveillance.

Ultimately, their assistance in the tackling of this ever-globalizing menace is paramount to our continued prosperity and yes, even our way of life.

We deplore these unspeakable acts of carnage, while our thoughts and prayers remain with the tragic victims of the Jos attack.

As Nigeria nonetheless continues its forward-trajectory, let us together not live in fear. Indeed, working with our colleagues in the international arena, let us look forward to a brighter future ahead.
