It has been confirmed that the governorship candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Mr. Jimi Agbaje and his rival of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, yesterday Monday signed a peace accord ahead of the general election.The agreement was signed at the official residence of the US Consul-General in Nigeria, Mr. Jeffrey Hawkins, in Ikoyi in the presence of the US Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. James F. Entwistle, and some religious leaders.
Both aspirants read the content of the agreement and accepted to the terms.The PDP candidate read his stating
“I, Jimi Agbaje, do hereby pledge on behalf of myself and my supporters, to promote peaceful participation in the 2015 election and beyond.
“I do further pledge to accept the outcome of the Lagos State election, whatever it may be and to seek redress for any perceived injustice through legal and legitimate channels,”
There were other signatories that witnessed the peace agreement in the persons of the Catholic Archbishop of Lagos, Archbishop Alfred Adewale Martins, National Missioner of Ansar-ud-Deen Society of Nigeria, Imam Abdulrahman Ahmad, Senior Pastor of the House on the Rock Church, Pastor Paul Adefarasin and National Missioner of Fatil-ul-Qareeb Islamic Society, Sheikh Abdurrahman Adangba
