APC chairman, writes Jega, demand Imo election officials replaced ahead of Re-run

The All Progressives Congress (APC)  Chairman John Oyegun has written to the Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Professor Attahiru Jega, expressing their loss of confidence on the Resident Electoral  Officer in Imo State and other electoral officials assisting in the conducting of the elections in Imo State ahead of the re-election scheduled for Saturday, April 25.

They have accused the INEC officials in Imo State of being compromised having accepted the result from one of the local governments where they claimed the result announced was more than the PVC's collected in that area.Read their letter in parts below,

“If not, how can one justify the acceptance of results of Ezihite Mbaise that was above the Permanent Voters Cards (PVCs) collections for the local government?,” they queried.

“In the light of the foregoing, we of All Progressives Congress (APC) have lost faith in the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) officials in Imo State in their management of election and hereby call on the chairman, Prof. Attahiru Jega to send a new Election Management Team to supervise and conduct the re-schedule supplementary Imo Gubernatorial elections,” the party stated.

They have clearly stated that they will boycott the elections if the INEC officials used for the last election are the same people that will be used for the 25th Re-run.

“Our position is based on the fact that INEC in Imo State erroneously and perhaps, mischievously included areas where elections took place and results were collated, announced, declared and results sheets (Forms EC8A) issued to party agents including agents of the PDP who signed the results sheets.”
