Dr. Akinwumi Adesina elected President of African Dev. Bank

Dr.Akinwumi Adesina,the Nigeria’s outgoing Minister of Agriculture and Rural Development, today Thursday emerged winner and elected as the 8th President of the African Development Bank (AfDB).He will be taking over from incumbent president, Donald Kaberuka, at the end of his second term as President of the Bank in August 2015.Dr.Adesina emerged winner at the end of the election conducted by the Board of the Bank during the annual meeting of the African Development Bank Group in Abidjan.
The election was held in line with the amended rules of procedure governing the election of the President of the African Development Bank (Article 1).

The New President-elect of the AFDB took to his facebook page to thanked everyone who supported him and assured that he will use his tenure to build a stronger Africa.Her wrote,

"I am truly honored and humbled by the support I have received and the confidence placed in me. As the President of African Development Bank Group, I will strengthen our economy, build purposeful infrastructure, and develop long-term growth opportunities. Working together, we can build a stronger Africa , with prosperity for all. I will not let you down."
